Tricia's Troops helps those fighting cancer with their daily chores - including housework, shopping and laundry, and even helps to reduce the financial strain the family is under.
Mrs. Candice Strong continues the mission of her sister Tricia Wright, who passed away from cancer. When Mrs. Wright was sick she had the support of many friends and family but realized that not everyone had such support.
On Friday February 28 Mickey O'Leary, Chris Rizzo and Michael Doherty, along with Mrs. O'Leary, Mrs. Doherty and Doireann Doherty delivered 435 items, collected by our troop, to Tricia's Troop's premises in Oconomowoc. These included:
- 15 blankets - thank you to the scouts and parents who worked on these
- 43 pairs of fuzzy socks
- 19 water bottles
- 154 games, crafts, drawing and writing items
- 162 travel size tissues, moisturizers, hand sanitizers and lip balms
- 13 items for infants
- 2 gift cards
- 27 items for parents including neck pillows, gum, and books
We also delivered 27 cards with messages of support and encouragement from our scouts.
At the December Patrol Leaders Council, it was decided to support this very worthwhile cause throughout 2014. At the next Court of Honor, we will again look at collecting items needed for the Cancer Care Tote Bags.
If you would like to learn more about Tricia's Troops please take a look at Triciastroops.org. If you think of other ways we as a troop can assist, please bring your ideas to the Patrol Leaders Council monthly meeting.
Thank you for your donations of time and items to our collection drive. We are helping make a difference.
